순간을 충만하게 사는 것
(Living the Moment to the Fullest)

인내란 힘든 훈련입니다.
그것은 우리가 마음대로 할 수 없는 어떤 일들-
버스가 도착하거나 비가 그치는 일, 또는 친구가 돌아오는 일이나 분쟁의 해결 등-
이 일어날 때까지 그저 단순히 기다리는 것을 말하는 것이 아닙니다.

인내는 다른 사람이 해줄 때까지 수동적으로 기다리는 것이 아닙니다.
순간 순간을 최대한 충만하게 살고, 지금 이 순간에 온전히 존재하며
지금 여기, 이 순간을 맛보며 그리고 우리가 지금 있는 곳에
주의를 기울이는 것이 진정 참는 것입니다.

참을성이 없으면 우리는 현실에서 도피하려고만 하게 됩니다.
우리는 참된 일들이 내일, 여기가 아닌 다른 곳에서 일어날 것처럼 행동합니다.

참으십시오!
그리고 우리가 찾고 있는 보물은 우리가 서 있는 땅
바로 밑에 감추어져 있다는 것을 믿으십시오.

Patience is a hard discipline.
It is not just waiting until something happens over which we have no control:
the arrival of the bus, the end of the rain, the return of a friend, the resolution of a conflict.

Patience is not a waiting passivity until someone else does something.
Patience asks us to live the moment to the fullest,
to be completely present to the moment,
to taste the here and now, to be where we are.

When we are impatient we try to get away from where we are.
We behave as if the real thing will happen tomorrow, later and somewhere else.

Let's be patient and trust that the treasure we look for
is hidden in the ground on which we stand.
